I'm strongly considering the Deltron midlength kit: http://www.ar15.com/forums/manageTopic.html?b=3&f=4 My one concern is that its only avialable with a heavy barrel. How much weight is this really going to add? Does anyone know of a kit similar to that, in the same price range, but with a lighter barrel? It also doesn't come with a rear sight. Cheaperthandirt.com has rear sights for 30-40 bucks, so I figure I'll just order it from them. |

It will be hard to beat there price and quality in a mid-length kit with anybody else out there that sells them. But like your saying the weight is a lot to carry around and shoot more so for some then others thats why I passed on one myself. I really like the look they have and other benefit they offer in a slightly softer shooting rifle over the regular carbines gas system. CMMG sells a mid-length uppers in a lighter barrel weight but the price will be higher on that one but you do get more like chrome lined bbl or a SS one ,not sure about any kit's thou ? RRA sells a mid-length upper as well but no kit's that I've seen. You may want to look back through the older postings to look for the kit's posting it was a good one. yls |
| I have a CMMG midlength lightweight upper being delivered today. (I'll post pic's once I get the rifle built). I looked at the Del-Ton and others and the barrel weight is why I went with CMMG. For a 16" barrel, I want light, not heavy. It's going to be my KISS rifle except I might put an optic on it someday. I'm also going to get another 20" rifle eventually but it will have to wait awhile. Not sure if I'll go the Del-Ton route or another CMMG. |
