Does it matter which end you put in first when installing the hammer and trigger?

Does it matter from which side of the receiver (left or right) you start?

I added blue and red dots so that we can reference the different ends more easily.  When I installed mine, I tapped the blue end in first, but I forget into which side of the receiver.

It doesn't matter which way you put them in. The end of the hammer and trigger springs lay across the groove and keep the pins from working out. Some folks like to buy the 'anti-walk' pins but I've never had one work itself out.

Another good idea is to use "ROLL" pin punches. I work in aviation and they work great to start a pin for installation or removal.

I agree it doesn't matter where the groove on the blue side are placed, either left side or right side of the receiver, the hammer spring will hold it.

In my case when I built two of my stripped lowers I just copied my two factory built Colt and LMT lowers, the blue side are on the left side on both of them, and I installed them starting from right side of the receivers towards the left side.

I believe from some of the old threads here the military installs all their taper pins, pins, and roll pins from right to left side.

Don't matter which side of the receiver, but I'd start with the red end.

Yes, start with either end on the trigger pin, but do yourself a favor and start with the red end on the hammer.  If you start with the blue end on the hammer, the hammer detent will drop into the slot and make it harder to get the pin pushed the rest of the way through.  By staring with the red end you do not have to fight the detent dropping into the wrong slot first.

Use a punch to center the hammer/trigger in the lower when you insert the pin.  That way, you spend less time trying to get everything lined up.

i start with the red side first driving from the bolt catch side. Why because the hammer detent only has to go passed one groove.

doesnt realy matter.

for some reason a drive my trigger guard pin from the other side (same as a gas tube and taper pins on front sight post....

I always start with the red end and I push them in from the right side of the receiver. If you start with the red end the spring will not catch the detent until it is most of the way in, thus making it easier to install the pins. I start the pins from the right mostly out of habit. I have assembled as many as 20 lower receivers in one day, so assembling the parts in a lower receiver the same way everytime reduces my build time.

When you guys talk about the "red end" do you mean the read end into the hole first or hammering the red end on the face.
