I'm a little new to the whole AR sceen. I've been doing lots of research and I purchased a DPMS lower. I got the lower kit so it came with everything + telestock. I want to build an M4 profile gun, but there is soo many options to choose from. My first question is, When I installed the stock onto the receiver, how far does it thread in til I should stop it with the buffer retainer not letting it thread back out. My 2nd question is, where should I be looking for an M4 upper? What is a good entry level upper to start with. I see alot on bushmaster but those are quite pricey. Is there a good sponsor to this site to look at uppers? Thanks in advance. Sorry for the newb questions. |

1st : look at the How to assemble upper, lower,...etc. thread above in this section for your question about the buffer tube. 2nd: there are many M4 profile uppers to choose from. Find one you like from a reputable manufacturer and in your price range and get it. (RRA,Stag,LMT,BCM,CMMG,Stag) |
| Another ?, Whats the difference in the LMT and the BCM M4 16" upper. From what I can tell the LMT comes with a threaded barrel. Does that mean I can change the flash hidder? Also which weight buffer carbine should I go with? I'm guessing the heavier the weight the less recoil? |
| Almost every barrel made before 94 and after 2004 will have threads for a flash hider. If you are getting a BCM or LMT just go with the standard carbine buffer. You can't go wrong with either brand. I dont think there's any major differences between the two, both are top of the line uppers. |
