How far should the barrel be drilled in order to perm attach a muzzle brake. How deep into the end of the barrel can be drilled without causing damage to the inside

I just purchased a cav-comp that comes predrilled for the pin.The directions say not to drill more than a 1/16th of an inch into the barrel.

It doesn't take much you only need enough of a hole to catch a pin and not let the muzzle device rotate. 1/16" is plenty.
