A friend of mine has asked me to install his new Larue Free Float 7.0 tube on his Bushmaster upper. I have installed several Larue free floats, and they are extreamely easy if you have the tools. My problem is that the last time I had to install one on my own rifle (also rebarrelled the upper) , the barrel nut would did not one to give and I had to almost cut the barrel nut when it finally budged. I didn't ruin the receiver, but it was a pain in the butt that took me two days to do. In case this happens again, is there something I can put inside the barrel nut to have the whole thing come off. I have tried heat before, and I was unsuccessful. Any imput would be helpful.

Put the whole upper into the freezer overnight and then warm the nut only. That should make it a little easier.

This.

20-30 minutes has been enough time in the freezer for when I've done this a couple times in the past.

Yep, if it's not too tight a quick trip to the freezer might make the difference (even without heat)
