I am building my first lower. I am at the step where after the trigger is installed and I am trying to put in the safety. When I try to push the safety through it gets hung up on the trigger assembly, and I cannot get it through the receiver. Any ideas on how to correct this problem is most appreciated.

Cock the hammer.  That makes the rear of the trigger drop down out of the way.

I tried that. The front of the trigger (hammer) presses down causing the back causing to raise slightly. Just enough that it will not clear.  I was able to put it on by having the safety in position then inserting the hammer. I dont know though if this will mess up the function.

You just have to wiggle and hold your mouth right and it will go in.  Eventually.  Cursing included.

Also you could first remove the trigger then install the selector, selector detent pin, and spring. Then install the grip. now you can install the fire control group. You'll need to drop trigger into the hole then slide it back under the selector. the rest should cake.

All brands of lowers do not allow the trigger to slide in place after the selector is installed.

Sorry bud, just missunder standing. I have been able to take all fire control groups out of any of my ar's or m-16 without removing the selector.

It seems to be working by having the selector already in before I install the hammer. It is a bit stiff but I believe cutting a coil off the spring can alleviate that. Thanks for the help.

how do you install the ambi safety.  There is a hex screw at one of the the new safety. Do I need to unscrew that to slide the new ambi safety.

make sure the springs are installed correctly, I recently assembled my first build, and had one of the springs install incorrectly. this did not allow the safety to slide through the receiver. After reinstalling spring(correctly), everything worked fine.
