I am considering stock piling some parts for the looming AWB possibilities and I am looking for advice on what to get.

I was thinking

bolt/carrier
lpk
barrel
gas rings
gas tube
a couple firing pins
extracters and such.

Basically, I want to be able to keep it running for a while without needing to worry about any internal parts breaking. I am running a del-ton kit so I am not sure the life expectancy of my current internals.

get a spare of everything, and a another spare of everthing; then double up on springs(extractor, buffer tube, trigger, etc) and bolts

so what your saying, is i should buy another gun?

should i worry about barrel life? How many rounds can i expect to put through a barrel?
should i worry about feed ramps?

Yes, by all means, panic...

im not panicked, nor do i have the money to panic. I am more interested to know how much money it will cost to keep my rifle in running condition, trying to figure out if its economically worthwhile to keep the rifle during a ban or to get rid of it.

Keep a spare BCG, FCG, LPK, upper receiver, lower receiver, barrel assembly, stock and handguards and..., whoops! That's another one.

Hmm...

Well, then, get another spare BCG, FCG, LPK, upper...

Really, though, a spare bolt would be the main thing, after which I'd just keep a spare AR.

Seriously, it's unlikely that parts will be banned outright. If you're really worried, buy a few extra lowers and get the rest of the parts as funds allow. I have 4-5 builds in mind, so i'm just getting all the lowers, and a spare, right now and other parts will follow as I find deals on the EE or whatever.

I have a feeling that if we get another AWB it will be similar to the last one, simply because it allows the hoplophobes to "do something" without actually doing much of anything.  Either way, I doubt they would try to ban parts outright, simply from a practical standpoint, it seems it would be extremely difficult to document and describe the parts to the extent that it COULD be enforceable.

While I hope and pray the .gov learned its lesson in 94 and 00, I think if they do pass one, it will be a re-hash of the last one.

So... I would stock up on lowers and MAGAZINES if you are worried.

MG's have essentially been outlawed completely since '86 and you can buy MG parts all over the place.

I really hope that everyone of you is a NRA memeber and registered to vote. If I am to become a criminal by proxy than so be it but I'll fight this legally until there are no more options! We're onle 300 million but we're Americans  God-Damnit. We have a duty and responsibility to our founding fathers and all they and every other soul who has given his life to protect our rights. You hear so much clammering regarding the risk that our first amendment is in. I knew the liberal crowd would come crying about thier freedom of speech while all the time dumping on our right to bear arms...Fucking idiots!

I'm all about being prepared. My wife and I have put together a pretty comprehensive 72 hour kit, and I'm finishing my battle bag which will house my pistols and ammo for everything I own, as well as a decent supply of water.

As for spare rifle stuff, I plan on building multiple rifles as time and money allow, until I'm legally no longer able to do so (I figure 5 or so complete rifles in different configurations will be plenty). I'll buy an extra bolt and firing pin for the inside of my MIAD, and beyond that maybe an extra complete BCG or two and a couple LPKs just in case. Personally I'd rather have several complete rifles ready to go as opposed to just having parts, and needing to dick with my gun to get it running again. Just my not-so-humble two pennies.

Buy lower receivers.

Anymore, you can find them at gunshows for under 150 bucks, with a serial number that is traceable to a manufacuting date, AKA, preban.

It would have to be a pretty draconian law to prevent buying parts to build up a preban rifle, and there is NO momentum for a ban like 1994.  Those were ugly times.

let me just say this one more time... As well as lowers, stock up on good MAGAZINES!!!

You KNOW hi-cap mags will be the first thing these scumbags will take away...

My logocs simple. With the exception of a few small items ( springs, gas rings, pins ) I keep collecting parts until I have another weapon built. No need to buy 5 bolts or 3 bolt carriers. Buy one of each the weapon needs and assemble it as it arrives. Depends upon disposable income of course, but I have no problems to build them that way.
