Newbie just got my first AR15. Love it and having a great time with it. I'm having a problem with it when I was messing with it the other night. I put my Magpul 30 rounder in the LMT magwell and she releases just fine. Everything is great until I rack her and dry fire a couple of times. I can't get the mag to release about half the time. I don't know quite enough to tell what's happening. I'll try to pull the charge handle back and keep the bolt open, but that won't catch either. After I fidget with it enough, I can finally get the mag loose. I've tried 3 different Magpul mags and had the same result with all of them. I've put about 100 rounds through her and I've had no problems with the American Eagle Tactical 5.56, but I've notice some short stroking with the Silver Bear .223. Any ideas? |

I should probably add, just because Pmags don't work, doesn't mean starndard GI mags won't. The Pmag follower just barely contacts the bolt catch in all three of my rifles. There's just not much room for error. It's unfortunate if you can't get Pmags to work in your lower but it's not the end of the world |

Thanks for the help guys. You guys hit it right on the head. My bolt catch on my lower just barely touches the follower of the pmag. It's ok if I insert the mag with the upper and lower apart, but gets caught behind the follower when together. I'll try getting another catch first then some other mags. Thanks for the help!!!! | Just an update for you guys. When I purchased the pmags I got some without windows (11/07 build) and so with windows (2/08 build). The followers on the 2/08 build are slightly longer and work with no problems. It's a different follower than the 11/07 build because it has no markings of 5.56 on the follower. I've contacted magpul to see if we can do anything about the followers that don't catch. Thanks again for all the help guys! |
