I have a Bushmaster 16" Post Ban than I am trying to convert to a gas piston using the ARES DEFENSE kit. I'am having a difficult time trying to remoe the gas tube. I have tried the hammer and vice method for a while now and it doesn't want to budge at all. Anyone else have any expirience with this issue?

Use your pliers to put a 90 degree bend in it. It should be easy to do once you've made a 'handle'.

You did remove the roll pin didn't you?

Non taken but it is removed. Used a 1/16" punch and it came out easy.

Have you tried soaking it with a good solvent and then trying?

I'll try it some more but I drenched it in Rem-Oil.

I don't know about Remoil.  Try some Kroil if you can.

Vise Grips... tighten on the gas tube, twist back and forth, the tube will come out.

1. Knock out gas tube roll pin.
2. Oil the hell out of the gas tube where it goes into the FSB.
3. Place gas tube in vice jaws with upper inverted.  Only tighten the vice as much as needed.
4. Tap back end up upper receiver with mallet in one hand, while holding barrel with other.

This was the only method that worked on the last gas tube I pulled...

Or break off inside the FSB at the roll pin hole.

I like the YHM-9394 better anyway.

To be fair, I suspect that the hole in the FSB was slightly tapered due to a worn drill bit.

Next time I experience this, I would try heating the FSB first and will have a gas tube wrench as sold by Brownell's at hand.

Got the tube out this morning. Used the twist method and it came out after a few minutes. Thanks for your help guys!
