I'm building my first AR. I'm looking at all these bolt carrier groups. What would you guys recommend. money is not a problem, but don't want to spend money on something that isn't necessary. I noticed that the young mfg bcgs are more expensive then others. Is it becuase its chromed out or is it really more durable and better handles the stress?

Btw, ive been roaming these forums for a long time. Just never posted. Finally started building my first ar15. Cant wait till it is completed :)

First off, Welcome!
If you want a good BCG for the money, LMT and Bravo Co. have good BCG for the money.  Both companies have very good reputations here and other forums...  Young is pretty, but the chrome isn't needed.

Bravo Co's BCM Carrier Group is very good @ $130. CMT & LMT from Bravo are also good carriers.

Global Tactical has a good price on CMT/Stag they also have what come consider the best carriers Young Mfg. for a good price.

I would stick to a M16/Auto carrier for the extra weight/mass, and before you ask yes they are legal to have in your AR15.

guys thanks so much for the help. Also one more question, are all charging handles the same? Spec wise. will they fit all ar15s?

The two different charging handles are extruded (cheaper) and forged (a bit more $). They will both fit any AR15 upper receiver that's in spec. Just don't pick up an AR10 (.308) charging handle it's too big to fit in a AR15.
