Hiya Folks,
Not particularly in the market yet but thought I'd start my research regarding hand guards/rails.   One question that has come up in my head is around Free Float vs. Non Free Float.  Is one advantageous over the other?
Cheers,

there will always be an advantage to FF rails.  You will be keeping as much off the barrel as possible.

what you need to ask yourself is, what are you doing with your AR?

If you have a long range shooter where you are going to shooting past 200-300 yards, you will most likely see a difference, all depends on how good a shooter you are.

If you have a carbine or sbr, you wont be shooting at these distances, so you might see a difference, but you might not.

There are all kinds of threads on here about the different rails

Thanks for the information.   I kind of figured the free float would be more accurate but wasn't entirely sure.   I suppose if I want to go with a FF, then I'll have pull the barrel, remove the "clip" (for lack of a better term) from the FSB and then reinstall.
Thanks for the inputs.
