I have an un-named DCM upper. I would like to change it back to it's original standard  A2 configuration. Is this feasible or should I get rid of it and get what I want?

Why do you want to revert it to a configuration that would degrade it's accuracy potential?

If it's a low-count barrel, sell it to a new shooter then get what you want with the proceeds.

ETA: Or you could be a really nice guy and just donate it to a junior shooter or club.

It's way too heavy (11lbs) in current configuration. I want to convert it to a KISS style rifle.

11 lbs?  My CMP rifle weighs 17.  Anything under 10 lbs to me seems like it is going to blow away on a windy day.

I imagine most of your extra weight is in the barrel, with only a bit of the extra weight in the FF handguard.

If you have any lead in the buttstock or under the handguards, take it out.  Otherwise, the only way you are going to save much weight is by turning down the barrel.  If you can't do that, sell the barrel and buy a lightweight barrel.

Actually, you might be ahead selling the complete upper and buying a new upper.

There is a weight under the HGs that takes up all available space. I can't figure out how to get it out. Any ideas?
