Im waiting to get my first lower and the guts and stock are in the mail.. I dont have the clams to shell out for an upper right now but im still deciding on 20" vs 16". When I get my lower all ready im going to borrow a buddies and decide what size I like better.

My first question. Is it ok to paint your clips? I wanted to black my clips out and stencil a custom logo on it. Or at least the part you see outside the reciever.

Second. I cant have a sound supressor here in Cali. So is there sombody out there making fake ones?

Do you mean the magazines? Because I've seen plenty of magazines with custom designs. I think it would really look slick if your furniture (handguards, etc.) were the same color as the design on the magazines. For example; olive drab furniture and maybe olive drab skulls on the magazine.

I know nothing of fake suppressors though.

Exactly.. I want Trick looking mags with some airbrushed skulls or somthing. How come nobody is making trick after market clips with lazer etched designs in them? Or why not billet clips that are anodized.

Billet mags would have thicker walls which would reduce capacity.

Also, remember that all mags are consumables - they wear out over time and are disposed of. I think most people would be loath to pay extra for cosmetic features on something that's going to end up in the trash.

OOOhhh and what about a duel billet clip milled in mirror image to function like the clips I see with the Mags attached togather with a plastic clip. If only I had a CNC I could make all the toys I wanted..

I live in the land of the 10 round clip so no biggie.. But I guess I would not want to spend like double or more for a clip. It would just be cool to show off at the range. The finish on Mags just seems to be overlooked to me.

Sorry Mr. but you are driving me insane so I must post firs off an AR-15 does not use a "clip"
it uses a MAGAZINE or MAG.

Secondly unless you get polymer MAGS you can get them laser engraved by
Anvil Arms and they have many pix to choose from or you can do a custom engraving.

No offense intended Good building

Yes I believe that someone makes fake suppressors, not sure who though try googling it

one more thing are you talking about a sound suppressor or a flash hider (some people call these flash suppressors)?

Well actually I was talking about making billet clips... You know the little washer type.

I'm pretty sure that if you contact Jon at Anvil Arms, he'll give you a price to take your mags and laser etch them with your custom logo.  It'll only come out white, through, not color.

Spike's Tactical makes fake suppressors and sells them for about $40.00.

mag finish is more function than form.

mags are disposable items. if they fall apart throw them in the trash. that's why you won't see a lot of them in fancy anodized colors or with airbrushing. The market really isn't there.

grey, black, or FDE are the most common colors for aluminum USGI mags.

Magpul PMAGS come in Black, FDE, Sage, and OD.

There are companies that laser etch the mags or you can always stencil and krylon them.

A CNC'd mag would be EXTREMELY expensive with no added benefit over the standard welded aluminum or cast polymer mags.

good luck

It might actually feed better because they could tune the feedlips but other than that possibility...

They would also probably be heavier
