I gave my new build a good workout yesterday for the first time.

All was well, but the trigger pin kept wandering out of the side of the lower.

What is the fix?

There are grooves in your pins. The springs sit inside of the grooves to help keep them from walking.

More help please?

I compared mine with the exploded diagrams, and it appears to be correct. Is there a sublety I am missing?

Gun fires and operates fine.

Do you have to "spread the spring (width) slightly?

I had this trouble with 2 model 1 kits.  the recess in the trigger pins were too small so the hammer spring didnt get in there tolock them in.

The kit is a DPMS. The lower is a Lauer.

When  the hammer and the spring are correclty installed the U shaped portion of the hammer spring is against the back of the hammer and the springs legs are on top of the trigger pin with one leg resting on top and in the groove in the trigger pin. As the hammer is pushed back into the firing postiion the spring tightens.
Two common errors are to place the hammer spring legs under the trigger pin or to place the hammer spring backwards on the hammer.

If you look at pdf page 190 the hammer identified as the M4A1 in the picture has the spring installed on the hammer correctly.
