| I'm thinking about building my upper as an 11.5" with a YHM phantom FH with the QD threads for my phantom suppressor inside of a 12" Daniel Lite rail. I'm hoping to be able to recess the suppressor inside the handguard by a 1/2 inch or so (obviously hen If its going to be a really nasty ordeal, I might just try to find a 12.5" barrel somewhere, anyone know of a manufacturer for them? Thanks, I'm just getting into this awful thing you fellas call BRD!!! |
| You know I considered the same thing when I built my 11.25" SBR with an AAC R2 can. I didn't do it cause it looked ghey. The QD looks ghey and a FF tube with no barrel poking out looks even gheyer. Do this; find some similiar pics online and photoshop them yourself. It'll give you an idea of what you'll end up with before you plunk down your cash... |

Does anyone else have any input? I don't happen to believe that the YHM Phantom QD flash hider looks 'ghey'. hinking.gif I don't really care if it looks odd, as long as it works. Anyhow, it'll be suppressed most of the time with a suppressor sticking out. I did some measuring, and the Flash hider will poke out, it wont be entirely covered. All I really want to know is if the muzzle flash being so close to the hand guard will damage it at all, or the Troy BUIS. I like my funky little rifle concept! |

I doubt the muzzle blast would damage the rail. The blast gets contained within aluminum body suppressors and there would be less pressure within a rail. It might discolor it badly, though. You might have a problem fitting a suppressor inside the DD Lite rail, though. The internal walls are closer to the barrel than other rails. I know I saw the dimensions of the DD rails somewhere (one of the AR websites). I woudl check first. Personally, I would get an 11" rail. I think it would look better. |
