I have post-ban a Colt Sporter Match Target Competition HBAR rifle. It has a sear block installed in the lower receiver.

I am interested in building a carbine.  I don't have much need or desire for a 20 inch HBAR.

What do you think is the better option:

1.  Sell the Colt HBAR upper and build a carbine on the Colt lower

2. Selling the complete weapon and buying something like a Mega lower to build on?

The sear-block seems to be pinned in with a large diameter pin.  Is this a liability?  Does it weaken the receiver or have any disadvantages?

It appears to be a clean lower with a nice tight fit to the upper - no rattle.

sell everything you don't need. then go back with what you want. I had an H-bar with the steel block in it. I believe it hurts resale to a certain degree. I sold mine some years ago and when asked if it had the block, it was a no-sale to that person inquiring.

I currently have one of the Match H-bar lowers without the block. R-guns used to sell them stripped. I believed I bought this one for about 225.00 in 2000.  I built it up with a del-ton m-4 kit. kinda of a safe queen as I don't shoot it much.

I made this mistake with mine,   ended up having tons of cash in it cause of the initial price of the rifle.   Keep it as is and buy a RRA lower thne build off of itm or buy a colt carbine.  If you dont like the colt,  shoot me a pic and we'll talk!
