what is the absolute best deal on parts out there to build the cheapest AR. I want to get a second one so my girlfriend has one to shoot and I have 2 can you build one cheaper that cmmg bargain bin? |
| You can build one at a lesser cost than the CMMG bargin bins. You just have to search the Internet for a variety of vendors whether it be the vendor sponsors at the top of the page or others. I've found many different vendors with very low prices on parts by just using the good old Google search. Depends on what config & quality you're looking for. |
I guess you can do that, but whenever I try to, I screw myself on shipping for all those little parts. I think it is hard to beat the bargain bin (especially if they get more $550 rifles in) without using used parts. |

http://blackthorneproducts.com/ 16” A2 collapsible stock complete kit less stripped lower $399.00. Like all low price dealers you will hear a variety of comments. My experience limited to one purchase of 10.5” commando kit which I built into a pistol. Installed parts kit in lower (supplied by others) in less than one hour with no problems. Upper came assembled. Striped and cleaned and mounted in about 30minutes. Total build time less than 2 hours. First trip to range 100 rounds with no problems. Stripped, cleaned and reassemble and can find no problems. Total investment with shipping $550.00. |
| A few months ago I built one for $521 including shipping, $440 shipped for a Garrison MFG 16" flattop kit, and $81 shipped for an Essential Arms stripped lower. I've put a few thousand rounds down the pipe now and it runs like a Swiss watch. Mag dumps are it's specialty. |
You can do it, but it's mostly likely a Equipment Exchange proposition and you'll have to be patient. Another benefit is a complete item that should function without problem and IIRC, you can trade up later if desired for full value on a new CMMG. Depending upon how thorough you want to do a build, there are some special tools required, principalely for barrel installation; though you may simply want to wait for a good deal on a complete upper. |
Heres the key phrase: http://blackthorneproducts.com/ For those of you who don't speak hyperlink it means: JUNK FOR SALE Dont be suprised when you end up with some thing that looks like a airsoft gun. I recommend you read the post here on the site about Blackthorn. Does Hesse ringa bell?? How about Vulcan?? I have 3 complete kits from them I'd consider trading for a airsoft gun least it might have alittle better quality. |

It can be done for a suprisingly cheap amount of money. I built one for about $525 by searching around and around for parts before buying. Like others have said, scour the net and look for your best deals. EE, gunbroker, independent vendors, etc. Used parts will always be cheaper if youre ok with getting sloppy seconds. |
