Ok, what I have is a complete no frills OlyArms 9mm A2 rifle. It uses the modified Sten magazines.

My plan is to SBR this rifle on a Form 1. This will be a budget no frills build.

Once my ATF paperwork is approved, I'd like to get a 7" or 7.5" 9mm A2 upper from RRA or something similar.

A few questions on the build (again, this is my first ever build and my AR knowledge is limited).

1. Magazines. Currently I am using modified Sten. The RRA and many other 9mm uppers look to use a different type of magazine. What magazine is this, and will I need anything to convert my Sten mag lower receiver to be compatible with this other type of magazine?

2. Bolt carrier/charging handle. I found a upper 9mm A2 without a bolt carrier, assembly, or charging handle. My current 9mm rifle has these items. Are the rifle 9mm bolt carrier, assembly, and charging handle compatible with a shorty 9mm upper?

3. Shopping. Where is the best place to buy a budget priced 9mm A2 7" or 7.5" upper?

Anything else I should know on a build of this type? Thanks

why not just chop the barrel? If you have a good system why change (especially the mags)

I'd like to do a build for the learning experience.

So will there be an issue with my lower receiver using the newer style 9mm magazines?
