Hi, I got a new DPMS CAR stock wrench, as seen here:

http://www.dpmsinc.com/store/products/?prod=4937&cat=1450

And I can't seem to get it to work with any of my castle nuts. I've tried it on both a mil-spec Colt and LMT but the teeth don't seem to line up properly with the notches in the castle nut? Anyone have any experience with this tool? Is it designed for some kind of proprietary DPMS nut or something?

Thanks!

Sounds like the teeth are off, do they look like they are 90 degrees apart??

Do one out of three teeth line up, two out of three??

I don't bother with the one you've listed for the reason you're having trouble. The teeth may be off & with the variety of castle nuts out there, you never know. I use this one for my castle nuts & the older style receiver extension nuts & it always works for $5:

Or could it be that  you have a wrench for a .308 AR ??

The castle nuts on my 308 and 223 are the same size.  A little heat coes a long way toward loosening the loctite.

every one I've handled sucked, everyone has something not right on it. I use other wrenches for working on peoples stuff now, dpms blows

Are the teeth of the castle nut facing away from the receiver? I made this mistake on my first build a few years ago. Make sure the teeth are facing the stock.

Yes they are, the teeth just seem too thick to properly seat in the notches in the nut. $30 bucks down the drain, ended up using a super crappy $5 stock wrench.

I find that the olympic arms wrench is the best..you need a long handle and one with a 3/8 or 1/2" square hole for a torque wrench.

Leverage is the key, not sure about your nut not lining up though..very strange..

Post what you end up doing..

Yes a little bit of heat may help break it lose as previously mentioned.

Well a DPMS rep just got back to me and the wrench in question is in fact for DPMS-only castle nuts, which are apparently out of spec. But I did get their multi-tool, which also has a stock wrench that did the job. An excellent tool btw.
