Hello, I'm just kind of wrapping up my first build.  I'm using a upper I bought from EE.

I was told it was a olympic arms barrel, I'm a bit confused about the crown and tip of this barrel. Its a 20" barrel.

It has a 90 degree crown, and a rebate about 3/8" back

Can anyone tell me anything about this barrel?  I'm just trying to figure out the purpose for the rebate??  And if the 90 degree crown is typical?

thanks for your time!

Well, it seems that this mystery will go unsolved.

to change the focus of the thread, what about the flush crown, I cant seems to find any info on them, from my thinking it should be no less accurate than a recessed target crown,,,,,,just more prone to damage,,,,,,,does this seem like sound thinking?

That is one of Olympics ban compliant barrels the rebated ring around the muzzle was for set screws to keep a ban compliant muzzle break on the barrel.  The rebated ring kept the screws from sliping if they loosened so that the muzzle break would still be aligned with the bore and prevent bullet strikes of teh muzzel device.
