So I have a RRA LPK I want to install, but I have some questions that were not too clear in the Install Thread Sticky.

The biggest one is this:  I cannot find CLP anywhere around here.  Even Walmart is sold out and surprisingly, the only gun store within 30 miles of my house never even heard of the stuff.  Do I need CLP for the install?  If so, how is it used, do I wipe down all the parts before installing?

Also, do you or don't you use Moly grease on any of the parts.  Moly grease is mentioned on the FAQ, but not really addressed on how to use it.  Also, this is the stuff I picked up, is it right?

Thanks!!

if you cant find CLP, you can sub in RemOil, almost any other type of gun oil, and some say, Mobil-1 oil as lube

you dont really need CLP for the install at all; h/w, it does help to protect the finish, make parts slip in easier, etc

moly grease is only used for bbl installation--it keeps the steel on the bbl threads/bbl from binding to the Al reciever after use
***do NOT use any moly grease w/ graphite!--supposidly, it eats the Al up

Sh*t. Do a google search or visit their website for a list of dealers near you. The web is a wonderful thing

However, the problem with the net is that it lists Dicks and ACE Hardware as retailers, and they don't carry it out by me.  Kinda sucks.

Gander Mountain and Dick's Sporting Goods both carry Breakfree CLP products.

Well darn it!  They told me they didn't when I bought ammo this morning.  I need to take back the Remoil anyway, so I guess I'll pick some up tomorrow.  Guess that's what I get for taking their word.

The lack of CLP should not stop you from assembling your lower. Wipe the LPK down with mineral spirits to remove the shipping oil. Assemble the lower IAW the assembly tacked thread. Lube her up afterwards when you get a hold of CLP or any other good weapons lube.

And as mentioned, grease is for assembling the barrel to the upper receiver.

ETA: WalMart also carries CLP.

It should be on the shell with all the other cleaning/lubrication products.

They probably didn't know what you were talking about.

Kid probably heard "CLP" and didn't want to admit that he was cluless.

Yeah, Walmart was out on the shelf, so I asked the firearms guy (I use that term loosely, he may have been 20) and got this response:  See the empty box?  That tells you we are out.

Typical Walmart.

ATF will work in a pinch for lubrication for moving parts.

Check the Automotive section too. My WalMart often stocks BF CLP in both Sporting goods and Automotive.

Surly bastard.

Should have remarked that he obviously isn't paid enough to afford a personality.

So what is the preferred method?  Put the CLP on a cloth and run it over all parts including springs?  Just solid parts?  I can wait to do the build until t omorrow when I have the stuff in hand, I just want to make sure I do it right.  As you can surely tell, I am a total noobie to all this!!

You may also want to try a gun shop. They typically have cleaning supplies

To be honest, I never used CLP to clean up my LPKs. I wiped off any oil that looked excessive, but other then that, I just used a little grease for the roll pins.

Well, she is put together.  The roll pin for the trigger guard got a little mashed, but it is in there.  If I ever get inspired, I'll take it out and put another one in that looks better.  But as it is, nobody, other than me, will ever notice.

A couple of questions though:  The finish did get knicked VERY slightly on the bolt catch.  Again, not really terribly noticeable, but will drive me crazy every time I see it.  Is there something that matched the dark black of the Mega lowers to dab on that to cover it up?  We are talking a spot maybe slightly larger than the head of a ballpoint pen.

Also, my Pmag does not drop out of the magwell at all.  Matter of fact it is really tight.  I am going to try and find another magazine tomorrow to test it out with, but is this a common problem with the Pmags?

Thanks everyone!
