I am attempting to replace the gas block on my rifle length system. I took the old gas block (YHM 4 rail) off, removed the gas tube roll pin and slid the gas tube out. I slid the new gas block (Badger Speed Block) onto the barrel and tried to slide the gas tube in. It stops about 0.075" short of the depth it needs to be at. I have removed it and took some pictures. I checked the depth of the hole, it seems OK. Has anyone else had this issue? Would it damage anything to shorten the gas tube to fit? http://www.thehousebmx.com/IMG_4405.JPG http://www.thehousebmx.com/IMG_4406.JPG |
| probably just something in the gas block. I have seen this before. try taking a drill bit the same size as the hole and putting in it the gas block and turning it by hand (not with a drill) to clear out any burs, junk or residue buildup. this may or may not fix it, depending on just what is stopping it, but if it is light debris in there, this should knock it out. hope this trick helps. |
| Definately use the drill bit trick. I would blow air through it after the light "reaming" of the hole. I often bend the end of a pipe cleaner and physically check all fsb/gas blocks(new and used) for obstructions in the connecting port before assembly. You never know if a metal shaving got "parked" in there. It is alot easier than trying to diagnose later. |
