Is that a serious question? or are you being a ![]() How would YOU do it Pirate? ![]() In case you are genuinely serious and unknowing, the rings aren’t torqued yet. Zero the sights, then zero the scope. If the scope fails I can take it off and use the irons. Realize, this is a hunting rifle and a play thing not a combat arm. |
Very nice! What part of TX? I just bought a RRA 458 SOCOM upper. |
Thanks guys. ISherman, I posted the specs in the Variant Forum |
Hey Brother, I'm in DFW. |
Hey TMIX, Its a Bennie Cooley Brake, and it is 5/8"x24. Marty at Teppo Jutsu made the barrel and opened up the brake to .458. |
Thanks! Marty is very good at what he does. (Dr. Frankenstien of the gun world...) |
I think what Pirate meant was, how can you zero the irons if they're on different elevations? Is the front sight shorter to allow for the rear sight being on the flattop, and not the rail? I'm just curious. No flame intended. |
OK, I see what you're talking about. Thanks for the clarification. I really don't think that is going to be an issue. The rear sight appears to be a little taller than my other BUIS. The tube, top rail, and sights are all PRI. They designed the rear sight to fit behind the back of the top rail, similar to the ARMS system. Also, the ballistics of the 458 SOMCOM are very different than the 5.56 and I think that should have some effect on the zeroing process. If there is a problem I should be able to mod a front sight post without too much trouble. I'll let ya'll know how it pans out. Hopefully I'll get to shoot it this weekend. |
