I'd suggest the one marketed by Sherluck.  It is emblazoned with a tactical mouse and everything.

I'd suggest one with a tac-latch.
save time and money in the long run.  not much, but probably worth it.

Just buy a basic one with something like the PRI Big Latch. You can pick them up for definitely under $30, and that is with the PRI Big Latch. Unless you want to shoot suppressed, buy a PRI Gas Buster. If not, no neeed for the gas buster.

Spend the $15 for a regular charging handle. If you find you want a tac latch or gas buster down the line, then do it. Right now all you need is a CH.

Yeah most standard charging handles work just fine for me. I had a tac latch, but then got rid of it since it sticks out so far. I do like the PRI gas buster charging handle though for using a 5.56mm suppressor.

Get the PRI gasbuster with the tach latch.  It is much easier and more comfortable to pull back.  Much more so if your wearing gloves.  it is almost twice as wide and the latch sticks out and is 5 times larger and more responsive to boot.

My sherluck handle latch broke @ the pivot point....

The angle of the latch "face" was milled wrong, so instead of jumping OVER the receiver into the catch groove, it was slamming INTO the receiver, peening it in the process and eventually shearing the latch...

Odd but true.... Tactical Mouse made me think MICKEY MOUSE...

LOL

J

P.S. I fixed it by making my own latch from some .125" aluminum, copied another good latch with dykem and a file/grinder/hacksaw/dremel.

I buy forged charging handles...Colt, LMT, CMT, Rock River, etc.
It would suck to have a cheap charging handle break during an IAD.

Peace of mind is cheap.

Well that ain't good.  As important as it may be to have a mouse emblasoned on your latch, looks like at least one Sherluck was defective.

Correction to above:  buy a good quality but reasonable priced latch & a tibe of black or blue RTV silicon & search out how to use it here on the builtid-yerself forum.
