I'm looking at doing a new build I was thinking of

Vltor MUR and a POF lower

OR

Sun Devil lower and upper

I know the price is about $100-150 more if I go idea #1.
What do you guys think?

I bought a Sun Devil lower and Vltor upper when those were the only billet products available on the market.

I suspect the reason the Sun Devil is $100 cheaper is the fact that they are made with 6061 vs. 7075 alluminum. 6061 is a lot easier to machine than 7075.

Why? Because it is "softer"... I have heard it described as, "less chippy" by machinists.

Does this affect the reliability of a 6061 lower? IMO, no...strength comes from the anodizing. Hell, most of your railed handguards are 6061, so....

Having said all that, if I was buying it now, I would choose POF...but, I'm funny like that.

ETA: Something else to consider.... the Sun Devil upper will only work with a Sun Devil lower. This will limit your options later if you decide to switch things up or sell it.

Here's some pics to help you decide...
