I am new to this board and I havnt gotten my rifle yet. I know some of my questions may be stupid but I guess thats the only way I can find out. andy way I was curious what is involve in converting an AR into Full Auto.

You can't do it legaly. And, if you want to stay on this sigte you won't even ask again.

spend about $15,000 on a registered drop in auto sear.

key word being REGISTERED..therefore legal.

why is it $15,000? Because there have been none legally produced since may 19, 1986...thanks to the FOPA ban on domestically produced machine guns.

You'd have to purchase a registered pre 1986 full auto lower. I haven't priced one lately but I would say they are at least $7,000 today.

And yes, you can convert a semi into full auto today. However, I'm willing to bet the ATF would be up your ass before you emptied the first magazine.

add about 3-4k to get in the ballpark for a low end conversion

Mine was 13k when i bought it last year, i've seen similar ones selling for 14-15k recently.

Eh, I took a stab at it - either way I'm not dumping that kind of cash anytime soon into one.

To the original poster - I suggest building your own suppressor while you're at it so that that nobody can hear you shooting full auto.
