Just put a piece of leather 1/4" thick next to the mag well, you dont need to buy a block for it.

no need for the snap caps either, just close the upper.

Not sure but,I think. I need to buy a Hammer drop block to test a trigger I'm installing. Is the Schuster Hammer Drop Block a good quality drop block, or is there somthing better out there. I also wanted to know what  you guys were using to practise dry firing skills(Zoom caps?)
                         Thanks up front

The Shuster hammer stop/receiver block is a GREAT tool, but i don't think you need it for one trigger. The smaller hammer drop block, which is currently on back order, and a good investment as well.......again, not for one trigger. Leather or cloth work ok. However, tools are cool.

Dry firing you AR will not hurt it, but i think "firing skills" should be practiced by firing. It's very hard to gauge how you are doing when there is no recoil to deal with, and no hole to check sight alignment and such. However, if you want to practice malfunction drill and mag changes at home, a few ZOOM metal snap caps are recommended.
