ok, I'm doing an SPR build, and I dont know whether to get the set screw one or the clamp on one. does anyone have pics of either of these or maybe even both? which is better, which one should I get for my build. What's easier for me to put on my barrel, haha. any advice would be great.
Thanks,
Tom

I think the clamp-on versions install MUCH nicer than the setscrew ones.
I have both 0.625" and 0.750" PRI flip-up sights in stock.
I can also pin them into place on your barrel so there's absolutely no chance of movement.

Very Nice work.

I specialize in exactly that.

From what I understand, in order for the set screw ones to be really secure you should machine a few flats into the barrel.  For this reason I went with the clamp on version.  No problems so far, and I don't anticipate any.

Thanks alot guys!
Randall, If I get a clamp on and after installing it, think that it's not secure enough, can I just send my barrel assembly to you and have you pin it at a later date? (if i feel that it should be pinned?) How much would that cost me?
Thanks again,
Tom

Yes.
$20 for the pin job plus $10 return shipping for a barrel or $15 for an upper.

I suppose this is directed to AR15Barrels:

if you use the clamp-on gas-block, what are the thoughts on using something like red Locktite on it to help prevent movement?

(Yes, I know pinning is probably the best way to go, but assuming that isn't feasible...)

I have never had a complaint of a clamp-on gas block moving on the barrel so I have never felt the need to loctite them in place.
Theoretically, using some Loctite sleeve sealant should be fine, but it's not necessary.

Well, I hadn't heard of them moving either. But when I saw your photo of you pinning one it made me wonder.

Randall,

How do you get the sight all lined up before you pin it?

EDIT: Do you happen to know if the PRI sight is "F" height?

Does this mean that you can press the FSB all the way to the end cap shoulder and have no problems? Or would this give you problems with FF handguard spacing?

There is no single answer for that.
You have to look at each build and see where the gas block needs to be.
I usually try to center the gas port in the gas block.
That's the safe bet...
