I posted a similar message on another forum, but it probably should have been here, since I am doing my 1st two builds. Thinking about using CMMG uppers/BBL's because they are the only ones I can find that has what I need (or CLOSE). Would a med. contour C.M. 22-24" BBL work (CMMG-1-7") for 600 yd. work w/ 68 to 80gr. match handloads? Thanx in advance!

CMMG should be great.

There is a post somewhere of some problems but it had to do with a huge group buy and only a few people had issues and they made a stink instead of talking to CMMG.
CMMG from what I understand will stand behind their products.

John and Jeff at CMMG are the Cat's ass!

I've done business with them starting in 2002,  If you have a question about a BBL and accuracy, ask either of them and they'll give you a straight answer.

Great to deal with.

Ah, how soon people forget...anyone remember the Giffman/CMMG barrels? Metric, Imperial...different...who knew?! To this day, I don't think CMMG ever admitted to pig fucking that one. I also have a bud who has a CMMG barrel marked 5.56mm that loved to blow...primers that is...

Another option (if you truly want a barrel that can shoot) is to call CLE (Compass Lake Engineering) and have them build you a barrel to your spec using a Douglas blank (or a Krieger if you're willing to shell out the dough).

I had them build me a SPR MK12MOD1ish barrel to my specs. You get exactly what you want (down to every detail of the profile if you want) for a fair price. No instant gratification but worth the not-so-bad wait IMO.

What?

A CMMG thread and no flamethrowers and gasoline?  And only four posts?

You guys have gone soft.

I like my CMMG upper.  I received excellent service and will buy again.

Everyone's afraid to speak their mind fearing CMMG will ban them from future purchases.

The only problem I have had with CMMG is not being notified when a product I ordered was not in stock. I placed an order a few weeks ago and it was never charged to my credit card. When I called them the customer service representative, who was very polite, told me the item was not in stock and they could not tell me when it would be in stock. They cancelled the order immediately at my request. Other than that one problem they seem very good to deal with, but it would have been nice to be notified that my product was not in stock.

I like my upper-good product.

I ordered directly from CMMG via the internet.  The upper I origionally wanted was not in stock.  After I called CMMG, and switched to an in stock upper they charged my card and switched it out.  Good people to deal with, and from what I ordered, a quality product.

When I order again, I will do it by phone to ensure what I want is in stock prior to ordering.

Ban them from future purchases??? Better add me to the list then just for that.

And to think I almost ordered one of their 16" middy uppers. Glad I didn't now.

I have no ill opinion or experience, but anyone who would ban arfcommers from sales just from telling the truth of their experience does not ever deserve my money.

So let me get this straight...  someone contacts you and wants a batch of barrels.  The barrels in question are a design that almost nobody in the industry at the time is making so you don't have specs on hand.  You go back and forth and the customer provides you with the specs for the barrel which you in turn make to spec.  Now...  I work in high tech manufacturing, and if someone sends us a print or specs on a part and we make it to print guess who's fault it is when the print is wrong...  I'll give you a clue... Not ours.

I can't believe this is still an issue for some people.

Again, guys. CMMG is a great company built on 2 guys kicking ass  and providing products with great customer service.

If you have issues - contact CMMG.

If not, don't hesitate to order from them.

So is that your side of the story?

Either way, as a company that makes (or contracts) barrels, shouldn't you guys have noticed a 1/8" error on a critical dimension? If I told Toyota to make a car for me and spec'd only 4 lugs on a 5 bolt car, do you think someone at Toyota would say "Hey, why are you spec'ing only 4 lugs for a 5 bolt car?" I think they would.

If wanted a barrel that was spec'd with a 1:30 twist for 5.56 NATO barrel, you're telling me that none of CMMG's "engineers" would raise a red flag?

Did CMMG even test any of these barrels before they started selling them to the consumers because it should have been caught right then and there...not AFTER customers received them, started building their uppers and then noticed that these CMMG barrels were fucked up.

The bottom line is that both Giffman and CMMG fucked the pig on that one and CMMG let Giffman take the fall. That's not cool IMO.

It took CMMG a while to get my upper to me (but this was immediately before SHOT mind you) so they were understandably busy.  But the wait was well worth it.

PROOF THAT there are still people that will belive anything that is fed to them.

BTW - Jim Jones is calling from Hell.  He's ordering up a 55 gallon drum of grape Kool-aid. He wants to know if you can do him a favor....

... can you pick it up at loading dock 47, in the town of Purgatory, (it's on Route 13,  just past Guillible, Ghana, S.A.)  It's for your private consumption.

My only complaint is that when ordering online, you have no idea if the product is in stock. I've been waiting about 3 weeks for a 6.8 upper and it would have been nice to know it wasn't in stock at the time of order.

Get your references right if you are going to make a smart-assed remark: it's Guyana which is in South America, Ghana is in Africa.

You be the judge, read what they posted in the thread a customer started here:

Yes, the OP in that thread was being a prick but their response to it was very revealing in my eyes and shows their true priorities.

ETA: It's a big jump from offering free advice on the net to telling a poster to go kill himself...

Thank you for nut shelling the situation.  We have always and will continue to warranty all products made by our company.  To date, 2 barrels have been sent to us for service/warranty work and both were returned promptly.

1:  CMMG made barrels to customer approved drawing
2:  CMMG continues to warranty Giffman group buy barrels
3:  CMMG only received partial payment for this order
4:  CMMG has received 2 barrels to date that were serviced and returned to customers

As for blacklisting individuals, we have no problem with people voicing their opinions and experiences (even if negative); we would not cease doing business with someone simply for posting something negative online.  It was CMMG's decision not to do business with the poster when a simple return was transformed into a multiple thread, multiple page drama subtly fueled by the OP.  CMMG decided it was its best interest to discontinue any further dealings with the OP(after taking care of original complaint to customer's satisfaction).  This is a family owned business and stuff like this affects us both personally and professionally.

Trying to compose a informative post to clarify some of the stupidity that goes on here can be difficult.  I'm guilty of it as are a lot of the Industry Partners.

Bottom line is that both Jeff and John are top notch guy's.  I've rubber shoulders with them a few times and enjoyed their company in addition with having been satisfied every time in business transactions.

Side note.....there's a wonder why IP's don't like group buy's?  It usually take’s one and that's enough.  The cluster fuck that ensues is total headache usually caused by a few people.

I got a 16" SS medcon barrel put on the upper they built (and had at my door within 8 days after a phone order) for me.  Im very satisfied with the accuracy so far.  I dont have a lot of experience on the long distance shooting but plan to when i get the funds for a nice nightforce scope.
I plan on ordering a govmt profile complete upper from them for my brothers build also...i had a great experience buying my upper from them.
Good luck...
