How do you remove an M4 stock without removing the tube from the lower receiver?

If you are just talking about the plastic buttstock portion of an M4 stock, you just need to pull down on the lever that is used for stock adjustment.  Adjust the stock all the way to the rear.  Then grab onto the lever and it should pull out even farther. Then pull the buttstock off of the receiver extension.

What he said.....

If it works better for you, grab the gun between your legs with the muzzle on the floor and the pistol grip pointing away from you crouch.....left hand pulls stock and right hand pulls lever all the way out....slide stock off tube.

So the little pin that falls in one of the 6 holes should give way and pop over the last hole if I pull hard enough on the stock?  Sounds like a plan.

Exactly.............you don;t need to pull overly hard on the stock itself, the key is to pull the catch as far as it will go, so it will slide over the closed end of the groove.
