Has anyone had problem purchasing parts through the Model 1 Sales website? My problem has 3 parts: 1. On their website, there is no method for finding out the status of an order. 2. When you do place an order, shipping costs are not calculated into the purchase at the time you place the order. Shipping is ADDED after the fact. 3. I was charged $20 for UPS shipping when the parts were small enough to have been place in a standard padded envelop and mailed through the USPS for less that $5. Sorry, just venting, but it's very irritating when the total bill of the parts and shipping was $70 and 29% of that cost was for shipping. I purchased a KNS perma pin, KNS Trigger/hammer pins, detent removal and Installation tools. All parts couldn't weight more than a couple of ounces at most. A lot of vendors take advantage of the fact that some of us live in Alaska. Items can be shipped via USPS but they insist on shipping through UPS or Fedex at a premium cost to the customer. The didn't even give the option to choose a different method of shipping. ![]() What do you thinK? Don't I have a reason to bitch? |
No, but I don't buy from Model 1.![]() Shipping has always been a big problem with little AR parts, I would never order from any place that said shipping added later. I'm not shocked that they nabbed you for $ 20. "Shipping and handling" ie "thanks for the tip" is probably a pretty good source of revenue for the places that charge more than the real shipping price. I just bought some parts yesterday and ended up getting them directly from RRA of all places. They list how much shipping is-I don't know if there is a "CONUS only" disclaimer. I called and they agreed to mail instead of ups for a couple of bucks more. |
| I was looking to get a kit and it was between Model 1, Del-ton, and J&T. I needed some punches and a pivot pin install tool. I ordered it from Model 1 (only ones that had them in stock). They shipped them in a huge box and charged me more for shipping than the actual product. Just like you they could have shipped it in a padded envelope. So I just purchased a kit from Del-ton and will be getting my bull barrel kit from J&T, and nothing again from Model 1. |
