very new to AR, so sorry if this is a dumb question, but....

if I wanted to replace the barrel on my AR, or have an armorer do it, so I simply buy a new barrel and swap it out?  Do I need a new barrel extension or is that part of the barrel and comes with teh new assymbly?

thanks,
Dan

You'llhave a hard time finding/ordering a barrel that doesn't have the barrel extension and index pin installed.

Your new barrel will have the barrel extension/index pin installed by the manufacturer.  You should probably order a new bolt with your new barrel, or at least know how to check headspace.  You'll need a barrel wrench and a torque wrench is recommended.

There are instructions posted at the top of the BIY forum.

Check in your Home Town Forum on this site to see if someone with the proper tools an know how can help with the switch.  I just helped a new friend out with a CAR stock switch that I met on the board, most guys are happy to help another ARFCOM member.
