Finally finished this thing up. Went with Stag for both Upper and Lower. I'm a hunter so I like the horns. Don't know that i saved anything, but it was fun. OH, for the new people out their (like me) if you are wondering if it is worth spending the extra eighty bucks for a two stage trigger...yes it is! The Eotech is the 512 model and if I am not mistaken, I believe that is a lower 1/3 co-witness? http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h285/Bassamatic/IMG_0301.jpg Eotech presenting a lower co-witness? http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h285/Bassamatic/IMG_0297.jpg This was about 60 yards with 55 gr. HP's. This group was no more than maybe eight rounds from the very first firing. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h285/Bassamatic/IMG_0286.jpg |

If you put it directly on the top rail with no mounts, it is an absolute cowitness. You can lift your head up a little and the dot moves to the upper half. That is why the dot is so high in the glass. If you flip up that rear site, it should be right in the middle of the glass. Then, looking through the rear and centering the front sight, the dot should be right on top of the front sight post. If you want a lower 1/3 cowitness, you would need a mount by LaRue or YHM. |

Hey thanks guys. I appreciate the nice comments. A year ago if anyone suggested I would own one of these, let alone build one, I would have laughed. But, I do believe that we will not be able to get these anymore after 08. Afraid as hell that Hillary will do it. Yes, the YHM mount is a great alternative to the expensive Larue! It clamps on real quick and looks great, and that Eotech fits perfectly. |
| i just saw a pic of an EOTech with the LaRue mount, it looks like the LaRue is a little taller than the YHM. I wonder what the difference in height is? If the LaRue is higher, it may actually give a true lower 1/3 cowitness and the YHM would be a little lower. I wish I had both available to see if the LaRue is worth the high price. |
