I got my Del-Ton parts kit delivered today, so right after supper I sat down with a few hand tools and the instructions that I printed out from this site. A short hour later I was test firing the rifle. I sincerely want to thank everyone here for all the help with this. I also want to tell everyone that Del-Ton is fantastic to deal with. Now for a couple of pics. This first is the mid-length parts kit and the RRA lower. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r150/leverguns1895/ARBuild001.jpg Here's my first completed, along with the only tools I used to build it. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r150/leverguns1895/ARBuild002.jpg Thanks again to all! It's kind of disappointing how fast they go together, isn't it? I have a couple of stripped lowers on my desk and was sort of chuckling at glee at putting them together, then I realized it was well over $ 100 an hour for that kind of fun. I guess I could take them apart and put them back together

Very nice! I got my first one built last night, but I won't get to try her out until this weekend. You must have some property to be able to test fire the rifle right after building it? I'd love that, but the wife decided she had to have a place close to civilization, go figure... The nearest public range to me is 38 miles awayhew |

well... build the whole rifle next time. it will take longer and you will spend alot more time shopping for the parts. Then when you get it all together you can up grade parts. I built my first ar about 5 months ago and i'm still changing out parts. I will soon be able to build one with left over parts. |

Great job on the build. Man this is fun isn't it? Kinda sucks when your done though. No more spending hours seraching for the best deal on the next part(s) on your list, no more excitement of finally placing the order, no more anticipation of seeing that box at your door when it arrives. Time to buld another ! |

Kind of anti climatic isn't it? Took me more time to drive to and from the FFL and to do the paperwork, than it did to assemble my first lower. One bad thing is you will see bare lowers for sale and pick one up 'for a rainy day' and discover that a $100 spur of the moment buy has turned into a $1,500 build, and you won't know how it happened ![]() Good job on the build |

Looks awsome, I have a lower to put together this weekend, built my upper a little over a week ago, funny thing is, that upper was to be a spare, now it will have it own lower to sit upon on.![]() This makes four, looking to buy five or more lowers, just to use as paper weights. TG |

It's over much too quick. I'd like to do a varmint rifle next. I sold a Savage Mod. 12FV to fund this rifle. That Savage could shoot 3 shot 100 yard groups into .27" at 100 yards using 69gr. Noslers over 26.0gr. of Varget. It definitely takes a lot longer to build an AK, but I'm already researching a 1911 build. I know that will take quite a bit more than an hour to build. Don |
