I need input form you industrious MacGuyver types. Is there any way to tighten a castle nut without the wrench as I do not have one and want to do a bangidy-bang test when my kit comes in Wednesday.

Some have said you sould use a screwdriver (or similar) and a mallet. I would just order the wrench, it is well worth the $$$

The small flat screwdriver idea works pretty good if you don't plan on getting a wrench. I actually had to use a screwdriver and hammer to remove my nut when putting on a DD Burnsed Loop receiver plate. I don't have the nice CAR wrench with the 3 or 4 teeth, I only have the DPMS multi tool. My DPMS tool only has one tooth, so it doesn't grab ver good for removal. It works OK for tightening, though. If you have a carbine stock, I would get the CAR wrench if you are planning on a wrench. If not, tight it by hand as tight as you can. Then, flip it so you can see the bottom and look for one of the indentions. Put the screwdriver in the hole so that it is almost perpendicular to the notch. Then tap it with a hammer. It doesn't take much to get it to move a little bit. When you feel it is tight enough, you can stop tapping. Some say to stake it at this point, but that is up to you. Some say you can locktite it.

Get the DPMS multi tool. I got one used on EE for $20 shipped years ago.
