Please point out pros and cons of both. What is that notch in the M4 barrel do? Why does it seem that everyone wants that M$ notch in their barrel? Thanks in advance.

1) NO M4-type weapons for CMP (20" with M16 stock only).... The notch is a non-issue, it is not present on the M16...

2) M16AA style uppers are only 'good' if you are going to be using the rifle as 'something else' besides a match gun. Since scopes are NOT ALLOWED, and the carry handle and mil-spec front-sight-tower are REQUIRED, you gain no advantage over an A2 unless it's a dual-purpose gun that will be wearing a scope for something else...

notch in M4 barrel is for the M203.

Why people want M4 barrels, weight savings vs heavy barrel, and they want as close to possible as USGI.

A2 upper is pretty much only good for irons. Flattop upper can be used for so much more.
