I am working on an old Bushmaster upper and have run into some trouble. I changed the front sight base out for one with a bayo lug just for the military look. I managed to get the taper pins out by nearly destroying them in the process. They were extremely tough. I purchased new pins and I'm trying to pin the sight base on. The holes line up but the pins are bending. I have also noticed that they are deforming on the head. Is there an alternative to taper pins or is there a certain way to do this? I know that you remove them from the left and put them in from the right. I worked on my Beowulf and my DPMS without any problems like this. The pins came right out and went right back in easily. Need some help. Thanks. |
| FSB are unique for each barrel they are attatched to. This is because the tapered pin holes are not in the same position for every FSB even from the same manufacturer. While it might look aligned, it probably is not. The cheapest and easiest solution might be to purchase a clamp on FSB from armalite or send it to AR15barrels.com. That's a tough change. |

Don't send me these kinds of jobs where there is already a hole in the FSB forging OR the barrel. I only do installs with all un-drilled parts. Once you have holes there, it's all downhill... Best to just put the original FSB back on the barrel and sell it. Then buy what you want. |
