Here's my first AR. It started out as a retro build and went a wee bit astray:)

This rig was built on a low budget. I experimented with several low cost parts.

Here's the skinny:
DPMS lower and LPK 185.00
Bushmaster A-1 Hbar upper FREE:)
Rock River BCG 150.00
Badger Tactical latch 20.00
Teflon gov contract 30 round mags (2) 25.94
Buttstock cleaning kit 12.97
UTG Bipod 22.97
UTG Quad Rail 59.97
M-7 Bayonet with Scabard 21.97
BEC 5x42 Scope with carry handle mount and rings 69.97
Command Arms vertical grip 42.99
Command Arms pistol grip 19.99
Command Arms surefire light mount 24.99
Cabela's XPG 9 Tactical light (looks exactly like Surefire 9P) 39.99
TacStar Pressure switch 19.99
A-2 buttstock 30.00
Delta cheek piece FREE
Green laser sight (inbound) 80.00

Total outlay......826.65

I would have have stopped at about $400 on that build personally and started shooting it. Then I would have thought about whether or not it needed anything else. You'll probably end up dumping some of the stuff on there - been there.

ETA: You'll have fun with it no matter how you set it up - enjoy.

Congradulations on the build.

What is up with the face plate on the electrical socket?

Yep....I a;ready know I'm gonna lose the cheek piece because I can't see through the iron sights. I'm thinking the laser will render the scope useless as well.

I'm sure this configuration will not last. This damn thing is nearly as heavy as my G3 clone was :)

Hey, as long as it shoots and puts lead on target it's a great first build.

Good job.  It is funny how they evolve.  Mine has changed allot over the last couple of years, but one nice thing about that is that you will always have parts for build number 2.

It looks the part, I guess.  But how does it shoot?
