Has anyone ever had their BCG coated in one of the high tech coatings? I noticed POF coats their BCG in nickel. There are lots of companies that do this kind of work and I dont think it would cost that much.

I think its a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

I don't generally recommend coatings, especially if they build up appreciably.
I have helped people troubleshoot their rifles after painting them.
The problem is usually that the carrier will not slide freely in the receiver anymore.
Removing the paint from the rails on the carrier and the receiver where the rails run usually gets the gun working again.

There is a similar problem with chrome plated carriers.
Often times, the gas key will not fit into the receiver anymore.
The solution is to replace the gas key or at least stone off all the chrome from it's sides.

So my suggestion is: coat at your own risk.

I have multiple bolt and carrier groups coated with Hard Chrome by Metaloy and NP3 by Robar. All have worked properly after plating.
