I just went down to the gun shop to see what it was going to cost to have my muzzle comp./brake atttached to my barrel. When I get there I ask them how much and he asks me if the brake and barrel are threaded. I then tell him Yes and was then basically told that these parts can't be threaded but need to have set screws instead of threads. Are there any gun shops that will weld this thing on for me or do I need to look for a new barrel/comp. that isn't theaded. Then they told me to get a barrel that already has a comp. permanately attached but, I don't like the barrel that have them perm. attached already. Any help?

I can permanent attach any kind of comp you want to a threaded barrel.
If the barrel is not threaded, I can do that too...

I do this for NY and NJ residents all the time.

I have a 16'' gov't profile bbl and the YHM phanton comp./brake could you shorten the barrel and add the comp so that it's 16'' overall? Would you be able to attach the comp to the barrel w/o putting threads on the bbl?

No problem to shorten and permanent attach.
The barrel will be threaded before the comp is permanent attached.

ETA: your local gun shop guy does not know what he's talking about because the permanent attach job renders the threads un-usable.
You just can't have a threaded barrel WITHOUT something permanent attached...

thanks for the input, he was telling me that I needed a comp that used 4 set screws to attach it to the barrel.
