Carpet could damage it. If something is thick, it could allow the upper to spin and not hold it true. If you are concerned about scratches - a thin piece of felt, leather, or cloth would be better than something like carpet. An old leather belt would be ideal. |
This will work well for you. Just make sure you keep the wood on the bottom BETWEEN the lugs (trust me, i did not specify that once and the guy complained that it did not work). Stick duct tape on the wood where it contacts the upper (although if the wood is clean it should not mark it in any way). |
