you have or a Vortec (clone with comparatively poor flashhiding ability) the tines on a real Vortex are helical. eta: I struck "old Vortex" because I'm not sure and don't want to feed you misinformation. Hopefully someone else knows for sure, but I thought the first Vortex designs used staight tines. |

Thanks Rob! I finally got around to putting these pics up as I said in the other thread....I really hope you're right that I may just have the old design...b/c the dealer at the gun store kept mentioning it was a smith..I just don't want to have been had... |
I would hope you got some paperwork with the thing. At the very least we'd know if it was an old model or not. I'll do some searching. |

Well, SEI did make a straight tined version, but it was generation 1 and/or 2. Unless this guy had some old stock from years and years ago, you got sold a Young Vertec. the straight tined Vertecs and old Vortexes do not supress flash as well as the helical design. In fact, it's about the same as an A2 flashider. depending on what you paid, I'd be a little upset. It may not have been blatant misrepresentation, but the guy wasn't being completely honest in the sale. |
| Thanks Rob for doing that search for me...I also sent an email to Smith Enterprises with the pics and they did confirm that it is an older generation FH. So I feel better now about the deal I paid for it. The dealer had some older stock and hadn't received the new helical smith FH in yet...I kinda wish he would've told me that though...I would at least had a choice...hehe...Thanks again! |
