My hammer pin walks out a little to the left. I have .154 pins in it now but will be replacing them with the Non-Rotating Locking Pins. Should I stay with .154 or step up to .155--I hate the idea of spending $25 for a reamer just for that extra 1000th of an inch.

reamer is not necassary...get the .155"
ETA: I put .155 pins in brand new receivers with no problems...not always anti-rotational though.

NO.

Hammer pins cannot walk out.

Inside the hammer, there is a pin, called the "j pin" (due to having a "j" shape) which slips inside the hammer, and hold pressure against the center notch in the hammer pin.

If it walks.... the j-pin is missing, or the jpin/hammer is defective.  That's all there is to it.

Not to confuse things.... but if you install oversize pins - you dont ream anything.  Oversize pins are to be tapped in.  .001" is nothing at all.

And oversize pins dont solve hammer pin walk.  See above.

OK--I remember seeing the Jpin when I installed it but I'll double check

Take the hammer out of the lower.  When you pop the pin into the hammer - it should really take some force to get the pin past the jpin.... and once you get the pin centered in the hammer.... it should really take some force to pop it free.  If it doesnt, replace the jpin or bend it so that it will apply more force.

J pin is there and keeps tension on the pin. When I work the hammer, the hammer pin goes to the left about 1/32 then stops

Ahhhh... so it doesnt walk out.... it just walks out 1/32" and then stops?  In that case - it just the lower, pin, or hammer that is slightly out of spec.  I wouldnt worry much with it.... if it bugs ya, get a set of KNS anti rotation pins.

Tolerance stacking.
Install pin the other way.
