http://img474.imageshack.us/img474/267/dscn0464gu7.jpg Its a High Standard lower. Picked it up at the Dallas gun show today. They were out of stripped lowers, so I went ahead and got a pre-assembled one. This is my first (and I know after lurking around here for a few months) but not my last AR-15. Only thing left now is the upper half, and I'm stuck between either the Stag 2H (M4 profile) or the RRA Midlength. Is there any advantage to the midlength other than the increased sight radius? Any reccomendations? |
| I think either would serve you well. I have read that the midlength will take some of the 'snap' out of the recoil if that helps any. Hopefully someone with some experience will chime in to let you know for sure. Personally if it were me I would go with the RRA since I do not have a middy yet and I like the extended sight radius and the midlenth rails out there. Good luck on your 1st build your off to a great start, and its good you know this is just the begining. Hunter121 |
Check the EE for a BUIS. Also, some of the dealers here will cut you a break on a carry handle if you purchase the upper from them. Since I don't know your plans, optics ect....you may not be interested in a carry handle. I got my upper from PK Firearms and the handle was only $75 with the upper. |

Srry for not listing my plans... I'd like to, at some point in the future, put an EOTech on there, but that wont happen for a few months at least. If I do go the carry handle route, I figured this would be about as cheap as it gets: www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=70722 |
I would stay away from those. They are made in China. I have never had one, but guys here have had problems. You are already spending a considerable amount on a quality firearm, why skimp on the sights. Get a Arms, YHM, or oter quality BUIS off the EE. You can usually get one used for $50-75. Same for a used carry handle. Personally I would take a little more time putting it together if funds are an issue, to make sure in the end I am happy with what I have. Good Luck |
| I've got plenty of time, since I wont see this rifle for another two months after this week (lowly college student h |
