i was planning on getting a model 1 varmit kit 20" and i was wondering if i should get the 5.56 nato chamber or the 223 rem any help would be appriciated

There are a lot more "match grade" rounds chambered in .223 than 5.56.

Nope.  The quality of the barrel will matter more.

However - if you *know* that you will never shoot anything but .223 ammo, never any milsurp, and dont need uber reliability.... get the .223 for the "potential" accuracy boost.

Personally, I would go with the RRA varmint barrel, with with Wylde chamber, and get the best of both worlds.

Match grade ammo means (among other things) a bullet that has been seated concentric to the brass within 0.005" or less.  I try to load mine within 0.002" or less.  Match bullets typically don't have cannelures either.  Neither of these things are possible with 99.9% of 5.56 ammo.

As for shooting match grade .223 in a 5.56 chamber, it would seem the sloppy fit would allow for unnecessary movement of the bullet during firing.
