I have a ban era 20" Bushmaster and want to know what DIY options I have to put a bayonet lug on it.

Thanks in advance.

There is a clamp on unit... looks a little, shall we say non factory but if you want a poker on the end its the only way to go, short of changing your barrel out....

Watch your barrel diameter before ordering

That looks easy, I will check barrel diameter.

Are you saying the front sight assembley on the Bushy is not removable? (never done it here obviously)

I would like to remove the neutered sight without lug and replace it with lug if possible.

check here on removal of the FSB and installing a new one

tips on the bushy FSBs: the pins are tapered and will go in/out one way, so find out which side is which

second, they tend to be a PITA to remove

try soaking in CLP or at worst cases, freezing or heating up the metal (freezer is usually recommended)

Just by another upper, sell your old one on the EE.

You can try but the success rate is like .05 %. The front sight and barrel are maufactured as an assembly. I would sell the barrel to someone in California and get the one you want.

Buy another barrel with the features you want and change it, then sell the original postban barrel to recoup some of the cost.

The FSB is removable.

They are not manufactured as an assembly.  They are manufacturered as two different pieces.

Then, when they are *assembled* together - they are taper drilled as a unit... and you cannot easily remove a neutered FSB, then slip on a no-ban FSB and expect the taper pins to line up.  They wont.

As stated, if you simply MUST have a bayo lug... sell your upper/barrel assembly and buy a new one.

If you decide to remove your FSB then be vary careful with your punch. I used the same brass punch on the FSB that I used for my lower and almost ruined it. I ended up having to use a real hammer and a steel nail set

Don't send your crappy ban-period barrels here.
We got no problem having threaded barrels and bayonet lugs in CA.
You must be thinking of NY where they can't have threaded barrels...

If it's just a matter of threading, I can take care of that for you pretty quickly and I hear that my prices are pretty good too.

Your better off in the long run by getting rid of your current barrel and replacing it with the one you want.

From everyone else on Arfcom.
I think I need to raise my prices.
