How are people coping with the rear taper pin hole lining up beneath the rear set screw on most all low profile gas blocks like the LaRue, PRI, etc.?  By my parts testing it appears that the set screw is going to have at most a partial lip to tighten against, and worse case it would center on the pin hole.

It seems problematic.  With a flexy little ledge to tighten against, and going through heating and cooling cycles, does that one screw loosen more than others?

How about when there's very little lip to tighten against?  Do you drill to get past the thin overhang and buy a longer set screw to get down to the (curved!) bottom of the hole?

Thanks.

What are you using?  Is this a new barrel or a removed front sight base issue?

A new barrel set up for a gas block should just have 2 dimples on it for the set screws.

Whether or not you are  using an old barrel just use some red lock tite or rocksett.

I wondered about this myself.  I know that you want a dimple on the barrel for the set screw to mate with.  I would want something solid for the set screw.  You may shorten one of the taper pins and drive it into the rear slot  This would give a solid place for the set screw.
