I've been looking at parts, my sweetheart and I want to do a build and i was going through parts for her. She selected a pardus stock from colemantyler.com and I'm just curious if its a good stock or not, I've done searches but cant find anything on it. At any rate, it looks pretty cool. Thanks!

Never used it.  I am more of a Vltor Cubfoot fan myself

I have been curious about these as well.

If I'm not mistaken, I think that these are made in Israel.

There was an image on here at one point (dunno if it was one of Lumpy's pics or not) of an IDF troop with this stock on his carbine.

The Pardus stocks are similar in design to the other 2 aftermarket carbine stocks made in Israel.  They're likely all made in the same Kibbutz.

I have a DPMS/Pardus on order from Midway. Is that the same thing? If someone bugs me next week I'll take pictures of it and put them up here.

I have one.  It is similar to an M4 stock.  It is on a commercial tube.  It has a slight curve to it where it meets the shoulder and is a bit more comfortable than the M4 stock.  I am a fan.

I believe that the DPMS website says it will work on a commercial or mil spec receiver extension    pardus link

Yeah you could put it on a mil spec tube it'll just woble like a 'sum bitch, unless they have two versions.

I was wondering that too.

What is the OD size for mil spec?

I am not sure, I'm at work and they don't let me bring my guns here so I can't take a measurement for a while. I would be leary of buying a stock that claims to be able to fit on either without two versions if that is the case.

I found a post estimating that mil spec was 1.145 inches and commercial was 1.175.  0.03 of an inch doesn't seem like a big enough difference?

In the link posted above, if you enlarge that pic, it says that it comes with "buffer, spring, plate, nut, and your choice of standard or milspec buffer tube".  Its not clear whether it comes with the tube, or you make a choice which tube you have already.  No tubes are pictured, but it leads you to believe that you get one with it.

ETA: Yes, the milspec tubes are slightly smaller.  I have tried a commercial stock on a milspec tube, and while it does work, you do have noticeably more wobble with this setup.  It is enough of a difference that my milspec stock wouldn't fit over the commercial tube.

looks like DPMS offers a special run weapon using the pardus stock

I just finished assembling an Ar from coleman tyler with a pardus stock, I like it. It does come with the tube and fits nicely. Ive shot m4 stocked rifles and think the pardus fits me better. Its mechanically sound, and my preference that doesnt mean it will be everyones choice.

So I have a A2 and lets say I want to make a carbine what tube is better mil spec or commercial. What does my A2 have in it now most likely?

The A2 stock uses a different tube than the collapsable stocks. You will have to get a new buffer tube for the new stock. As far as military vs. commercial for the carbine stock it depends on which stock you want to use. Many/most aftermarket stocks (Vltor, LMT, CTR, etc) require the military dimension tube.

I'll go with the mil spec pardus then.
