Was cruising the EE for a stripped upper for my 9mm build. I came across a few at really good prices, I think they're from Del-Ton. Are these good uppers? Are there any substandard uppers or ones more prone to issues that I should avoid? |

Most uppers rec. Are made bye a handfull of subcontractors. For the defferent MFG. So you will find say Keyhole forge on both RRA and Bushmaster You will find the Splinterd A (not sure who) on Colt and a couple of other co. After forgeing and machineing. Its how much the co. Will spend on Finshing and There overall Q.C. If they will accept or reject a batch that might not quite make the grade. I know Del-Ton sells a lot of DPMS stuff. But I am not sure if there 9mm Uppers are from them. About the only uppers I can say for sure off to stay away from is olimpic arms. |
That is Cerro Forge, they supply forgings to many of the manufacturers. However, the company that forged it is'nt the big deal, it's who machined it and finished it that counts. Being that there is no identifiying marks from a particular company, that upper could be anybody's. I have seen the keyhole on Bushmaster, Colt, RRA, CMT and Wilson. I'm sure there are more. |

Hi the Co. that does the forgeing also usely does the machineing. Most if not all upper's and lowers are done bye CNC type machine tool's now. So you have very high tolances that in the past would have taken a master michinest. Today you just need a guy to hit the "on" button. Next up is the anodizeing and finshing. I have gotten several of the New Cerro forage and Ankor Harvey Splenterd A type mark on the EE exchange. Fit and finsh as good as Big name's Bushie and RRA. Tolarences to speck. Prices that are hard to beat! Most are A3 types without M4 feed ramp's |
