I decided to go with a Modular Upper Receiver. Going with this rather than a complete upper, what else will i need?

http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=461

this is what i want to go with, unless someone can suggest something better.

Not sure what you are asking... Like what else will you need to build an ar15? All the information about building is in the build it yourself area of the site... Not sure if that helps you..

I'm also comfused by your question.  I guess this comes down to your definition of "modular".  The unit you've identified is only "modular" in that it's made from a single piece of aluminum.  Other than that it's a tradiional upper, you have to install a barrel the traditional way.  If your intent was to buy something similar to the MGI Modular upper or the LMT Monolithic, where you can quick change barrels, then you are barking up the wrong tree.

How do you define "modular"?

Well, it's also modular in that you can remove the brass deflector.

Did you mean the Voltor VIS single pc. Upper with intagrated rail? If so you will need a barrel And bolt assy. Gas tube. etc. No sure if they have them in stock at ranier yet. I know the Have the Voltor MUR Billet upper. For the Money the VIS seam the way to go. about 1/2 the price of the LMT monolithic upper. But it has not been out there that long. Less than a month. Good luck and keep us posted.
